SNES on PS3

Published by admin

Good luck with this one. It will take some skill and sometime for you to get your PS3 to play an SNES Emulator. Yes, it can be done, but keep in mind that you have to use Linux in order for this to get setup properly. Goto the Additional Information below for more instructions.

Additional Information:

As explained earlier, you will be required to follow certain step in order to get you setup. You will need to have Ubuntu, which is from the download link from above.

What You Will Need:

Ubuntu 8.10 PS3 Install Disc Image

Blank CD

USB hard drive formated to FAT32 to backup your PS3 data

USB keyboard and mouse

Installing Ubuntu 8.10

1. Before losing all of your data from the PS3 incase, you need to have a FAT32 USB stick. On that stick, you will back up all of your data.

2. Next inconducting the backup, it can take anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes. Later on, you will switch to the XMB to restore your data.

3. Now it’s time to install Ubuntu. If you did not require to backup anything, that makes it much easier. Take the file that you downloaded from above and burn that onto a CD, making sure it’s an ISO disk.

4. Place the disk in your PS3 and goto Settings > System Setting > Install Other OS. Make sure that your connected to the web and then plugin your mouse and keyboard.

5. Like Windows, you will have to select a series of answers for questions that pop up guiding you through the process. The installation make take somewhere upto an hour. When completed, you can remove the disk from your system.

6. Next, you will be require to install the SNES9X on the PS3.

7. With the terminal window open, type the command: sudo apt-get install snes9express snes9x-x, which will install the emulator.

8. From there, you will be done. It’s recommended to go through the settings and ensure that your mouse, keyboard, and controller work. Good luck!
